Need some help locating the wires to the 4wd sw on my vit loom The loom is from a 93 vit 1.6 and going into my LJ I've search the wiring diagrams I have and it says its a orange/black wire from the ECM plug 18 Problem is no wire that color is in the plug and the plug does not look like the one in the wiring manual |

Are you sure you're looking at the correct diagram? I don't think the 4WD switch connects to the ECU on the SE series Vitaras - I believe it's straight from the switch to the cluster. |

no I am not sure but if you know the color of the wires to the switch and the plug let me know. The wiring diagrams I have are slightly different to the loom |

I believe orange/black is correct. |

Gee if only I'd read this two days ago, just finished putting my gearbox back in, unfortunately I didn't take any notice of the colour of the wires, but might have been useful to check at the time.... |

Problem is I cant find them coming out of the loom. I can trace them from the instrument cluster to the ECU and not out from the ECU |

On my Vit the plug is located under the rear end of the inlet manifold, and is quite difficult to see when installed, there is four wires to it, reverse switch and 4wd switch, so you might be looking for a four wire plug not two wire plug, (the loom them runs along the top of the gearbox). Unfortunately I didn't check where it went after it disappears into hoses and other parts of the wiring. |

ok getting somewhere, I found the plug that goes to the reverse switch it has four wires in - Y, Bl/O, Lg and P four wires going out - LG,Y/B,P and Bl/O. The only one not spoken for is the Y/bl out could this be it? |

Put a meter on it - does it go to ground when you shift into 4WD? |

Won't happen because its not connected to anything yet, remember this is a fit loom in an LJ with A sierra transfer If I get time on the weekend I'll short it out and see if it turns the 4wd light on |

Sounds like a good way to burn something out - why not connect a test lamp instead - if it does turn out to be the 4WD light connector, both the 4WD light and the test lamp will light. |

Well to close this off I found the wiring. The switch loom was still on the transfer case(which I wasn't using) So the plug is under the rear of the inlet manifold and depending on the model can have up to 5 wires which are for reverse, 4wd and Lo. |
