Hey guys sorry about the noob question I've been doing the head on my 88 Sierra 1.3 non aircon model, and I can't figure out how to get the pulley off the water pump, got the fan off ok but I can't see any bolt/screw holding the pulley onto the pump so I hit it a bit with a mallet and it didn't budge and I don't want to to hit it any harder unless I know the pulleys tapered on or something. I checked the good old trusty haynes and it says to "remove water pump pulley" and then decides not to elaborate any further... does anyone how it comes off haha I've spent the last hour looking at it in a poorly lit garage! Cheers

Once the fan is unbolted and removed the pulley usually falls off.
A gentle tap at most is all that is required unless there is extreme corrosion or incorrect pulley fitted.

Got a pic of yours?

Are you asking about the pulley or the flange it bolts to - like want33s says, the pulley normally falls of - the flange requires a press.

cheers fellas, turns out it was seized on pretty bad. A few hard hits with the mallet and it didn't even budge but 2 hands and a lot of shaking somehow managed to work
