To solve my idle issue i seeked some advice from some carby rebuilders and suzuki specialist.
I took photos as i when along, i hope others with idle issues can use this to sort their problems.
This wont clean out the jets or ports running to the soleniod but if you cant hear a click at the solenoid with reds on this could be your problem.
This will cover the idle solenoid, vaccum hoses and idle adjustment, if you have messed around with the two screws like i did thinking one was mixture you will have problems with idle.
You will need carby cleaner with a tube in the nozzle, 3 metres of vaccum hose (3mm ID) and a small peice of 4mm vacuum hose, a 12mm open ender and a screwdriver.
I had a carby kit laying around and used the o ring and washer from the kit, but its not required if you dont have one.
First step is to disconnect the white plug

It helps to remove the pin for the wire that runs elsewhere because when you undo the idle solenoid the wire will twist up and damage itself.

Next locate the solenoid, rocker cover side of the carby. 12mm spanner to undo.

Remove washer and o ring, using carby cleaner with straw clean the end of the sensor, inside the holes and in the end hole. Dont use compresed air as you could damage in internals. A ball bearing determins how much fuel is running though this sensor.


Replace o ring and washer and add some lube to the o ring and re install, just nip the solenoid up as it tightens up quickly.

Replace the wire that was removed from the plug, just push it back in and it should lock in. join the white plug together and
check opperation by hearing a click at this solenoid while the ignition is turned on.

While you have the carby hat off replace the vacuum hoses, change one at a time.

Next is the two carby adjusting screws, the one visible on the left is the hot idle screw, the one thats under the accelerator arm is the fast idle or cold idle screw.
With a cold engine start the car, note rpm, if too high back off the cold idle screw under the accelerator arm, if too low screw in.
With a hot enigne, choke off engine running, note rpm if too low and almost stalling turn the screw thats visible one the left in, if too high back the screw off.

If you have a inacurate setting now and again it changes you have a problem with the choke settings.
Its also wise to add a filter close to the carby.
