X2. Bolt it in upside down if you have to use it - it will help. They always wear on the bottom more than the top. |

that is rooted , not only is it pitted and worn where the bearing runs its pitted where the seal runs , so not only will you still have bearing play with a new bearing , you will still let moisture in to root that bearing. i would replace it. |

don't get me wrong, I'd replace it too, but sometimes you don't have a spare sitting around, and not everyone expects to get 100,000km out of a bearing before they look at it again. If its not a daily, and you know it's less than ideal, I'd run it - I'd flip it upside down and make sure everything else is to spec. The fact the bearing was stuck on is a VERY good sign. the bigger problem with spindles is that they corrode/wear and the bearing goes loose and slips. ( I used to have this problem with the Gwagen) if the bearing was tight on the spindle, then the spindle is sound, it's only as big a problem as the seal surface. In short, there's the ideal world, and the real world. Ideal - it would all be new. Real world - I'd run it, but I'd keep a keen eye on it. Steve. |

Let me ask the question - the bearing doesn't run on that surface. the inner race slides over it, so as long as it's tight, the pitting is not an issue - the pitting in the seal area (which I suspect can be fixed by machining it down and press fitting a sleeve over it) is where the problem lies. Is this what Steve is saying (apart from fixing the seal area)? |

Loos heaps better then one I pulled off mine... I'd run that though its only minor pitting... Next time you change your bearings get a new one |
