Tried to get the body lift in tonight but ran into problems, I followed the instructions except the part where it talks about disconnecting the steering column to use extended bolts, however my 1 inch kit doesn't have them so I just left steering connected , everything else like brake lines and air intake were loosened off. I started by lifting the drivers side and found that I could only just get the pins flush with the mounts before the drivers wheel started to lift off the ground, when it started to lift I checked all the lines and even though they were getting close to being tight, no where tight enough to lift the drivers wheel. Has anyone done this on the GV and have any tips ? Anyone else thinks its the steering ? |

Did you disconnect the brake lines on the inside of the frame rail? |

Steering. It needs to be disconnected, even though you don't need a spacer once it goes back together. Steve. |

fordem, yeah mate i disconnected all the lines from the chassis atari4x4... gwagonsteve..... thanks i figured it would be the case but was hoping to get away with not having to disconnect the steering as i did a mates v6 vitara with him the week before and didnt need to.... Will have another crack at it this weekend |

just one more question, am i better to undo the two bolts of the bracket peice which holds the two shafts together, slip it down to seperate, or undo the bolts at the joint further down? |

on the vitara's i undo the clamps on the uni joints where they bolt to the splined section & then after the lift re-centre the shaft on the splines, not 100% familiar with the rack & peanut set up on the GV |

You'll have to take the bolts right out, and then reassemble once the BL is in. If your GV has an airbag or steering wheel mounted controls, make sure you lock the steering lock before you disconnect, or you could (will) stuff the clockspring. Steve. |

Thanks Steve, sorry I have to ask....what's the clock spring and do u think I would have damaged jacking it up without disconnecting already ? Mine does have airbag Gwagensteve wrote: You'll have to take the bolts right out, and then reassemble once the BL is in.

Steve. googled steering wheel clock spring = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clockspring can you also start quoting under people so it reads like a normal converstion.
