just had a quick squizz at your vids & what awesome terrain.  IMO you'll end up smashing the shit out of it on 29's & no lift, driveline shouldn't be a problem with a bit of mechanical sympathy & smart driving. but looking at some sections i reckon you'll get hung up alot smashing gearbox crossmember, sills & fuel tank. why not take the jeep, it's 11ty times more capable? |

IMO you'll end up smashing the shit out of it on 29's & no lift, driveline shouldn't be a problem with a bit of mechanical sympathy & smart driving. but looking at some sections i reckon you'll get hung up alot smashing gearbox crossmember, sills & fuel tank. why not take the jeep, it's 11ty times more capable? thanks for the reply atari 1st of all yer its a great track, iv only done it the once and keen to get back up there. i get bored easily and like something where u actually have to think about where to put the wheels not just pointing it in that direction and opening up the throttle (gets old pretty quick) 2nd was hoping u were not gonna say that  might have to make the barwork for it 1st (and look into making up a skid plate for the gas tank how thick do u guys generally make skid plates? all the stuff on the jeep is 6mmwill definitely make a vid when i do go up might impress a few  be a while off yet funds are tight and need a new clutch before i can take it off road. plenty of time to do barwork already designed it all just needa save up for some steel and get off my ass and make it 3rd id love to take the jeep buts its stuck in the driveway with no engine or gearbox

My skid plates are 3mm with bends for strength, some use 5mm, but they get a bit heavy. http://s129.photobucket.com/user/christ ... e%20stuffs I can understand the challenge mentality. |

Haven't noticed any heat increases, though if that becomes an issue, I could aerate it with holes I guess. Thicker 5mm could mean needing less material, so more air, if that's an issue for your needs. For me, it meant I could not bend it, or work with it myself (and I'd have to buy it  )I've used gal, because I got it cheap/free. Its actually quite " slippery " doesn't seem to stick to stuff. Certainly slides over stuff better than my cross member did. I like the nylon skin idea, but not likely to happen, too many things on my budget list |

I like the nylon skin idea, but not likely to happen, too many things on my budget list i think i will go with 4mm plate to me 4mm is the definition of plate 4mm and up it plate and 3mm and under is sheet IMO im a welder by trade so ill just cut it out to shape and get it folded at my old work. would u beleive it as i was typeing this message my tyres which i orderd from sydney on friday pulled into the drive way now im off to get them fitted

Not sure if this will still be relevant, but i blew my front diff from inside out after about 2 months of owning it (second owner though). (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=40836) Just make sure when one of your front wheels is stopped and the other is free, do not floor it in reverse for a long time, that is how i did mine. |

The_Amateur wrote: You probably wouldn't wanna do that even with patrol diffs and 31's haha yer im used to being gentle i have 35"s weighing in a 60kg's a pop i running on a D30 with 200hp and about 300-400NM of torque havn't broke an axle yet its all about the way u drive it and a small portion of sheer dumb luck,no goo going up to a big rock ledge and going  $hits gonna break
