Hey fellas, Need to take my transfer case apart, wondering what's the best way to do it. Should I take the whole thing out or just take the back part off where the tail shaft goes on. I started to pry this part off but it won't come off any further :/ ![]() Cheers |

What do you want to pull your transfer apart for? There's a couple of bolts right at the top, did you undo them? From memory when i did my reduction gears and put a bearing kit through it, i think you need to remove the gear selector case cover on the top and knock out the pin from the shift yoke to allow the shifter forks slide through.. i remember when i did mine (off the car of course) it was pretty damn tight around those shift levers/forks.. Also there is 2 bearings on that end of the transfer one around the shaft that you can see and one in the little buldge on the bottom of the transfer. But my guess is that the gear levers are stopping you check out this thread: http://www.auszookers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=37559 if you need pics of the inside of the half your trying to pull off, let me know i might be able to dig some up Also theres 2 halves to the case, the half your pulling apart has the chain, the other half has the gears, so depends what your trying to get to) edit: it will be so much easier off the car.. 2nd edit: Also i'm assuming GV transfer is pretty similar to normal vit, it looks pretty close to me |
