Going through some sierra vids on youtube and i came across this one. Just wondering if this actually does work and if it's worth it?

One of the Guys from Outer's did that video. There's a thread about it on outers also.

Was struggling to get 110km/h before I ran a t-peice off the vacuum advance hose to the secondary actuator diaphram, but now it will easily get to 110km/h and I've actually had it up to just over 130km/h on a nice flat peice of freeway.

free sticker to anyone that can give a convincing reason why thats a useful mod and not a placebo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the whole idea of vac secondries is they only open when the primary cant supply anymore air, it keeps your fuel metering correct and the throttle easy to control, the correct vacuum advance port is designed to have high vacuum at times of low load so you get more spark advance at cruise to help with economy, its nothing to do with power!!!!!!!

so this thing is opening at high manifold vacuum and low throttle (as seen by free revving it in the vid) when there probably isnt enough airspeed through both barrels to suck fuel out probably causing it to run lean (which I am guessing a stuffed carby combined with all the vacuum hoses being ass about and the carb put back together wrong by backyard mechanics that dont pay attention) is compensating for some other fault.

As said before on another subject 'HiClones'…

If this works correctly, why don't the manufacturers do it when building the car? Always a bit suss with mod's like this!

Can I please have a sticker anyway?

Oh, and I can get my 1.3 up to 130kph as well without this particular modification :D

Yes, I posted the vid on youtube and yes it does work if you are haveing problems with the vacuum operated secondary's opening, as I did when I bought the car. If the secondary's currently work fine, then it will make little differance to how it runs. Because I was having problems with my secondary's opening I was barely able to crack 100km/h on the freeway. After doing this mod I was able to get 130km/h on the freeway. It did'nt use any more fuel than normal either.
The carby's never been apart, and the vaccum hoses have never been mucked around with. After filming this video, when I got the time to check it out properly, I found that the original vaccum hose to the secondary's had somehow become restricted and was why the secondary's were'nt opening correctly. I have since returned the vacuum hose configuration to standard and the car still pulls 130km/h down the freeway. Happy days. :D

i had an issue with my secondarys and when replacing the vaccum hoses one was restricted, by a ball bearing! nfi how it got there.. but yeh worth checking your hoses first.

No idea what was restricting mine, but it had me stuffed for a while. When I bought the car I was the 3rd owner and I had the full service history from when the car was new and it was always serviced at Suzuki. Only thing I can think of, is some bright spark at the dealership might have sealed the hose to stop the pinging problem that is all too common on the 1.3's when they carbon up. Another reason not to trust dealers

just wondering how much have the tyres put ur speedo out

Speedo reads a touch over 90 when I'm actually doing 110km/h. Am currently trying to organize a day off at work so I can have it recalibrated. It's about a 15km/h differance
