hey just wondering if the efi 1.6 block, crank and conrods are the same specs as the 8valve 1.6 bottom end? i have all the good parts to make a great 1.6 8valve except these but am have troubles finding a good 8valve bottom end to rebulid and the efi bottom end might be the next option if they are the same. or if anyone can steer me in the right direction to find out the specs would be appreciated
cheers wayne
or better yet if anyone has a 1.6 carb bottom end in need of a rebuild (no bent rods) for sale let me know! (edit=in brizzy area but will travel)
cheers wayne

The only difference I know of is that most 8v ones have a 4 counterweight crank and 16v have 8 counterweights.

i take it this would throw out piston weights to counter weights? but then how much weight would be gained in 2 less valve scallops? balancing should take care of that maybe???? i might need to talk to an engine builder i think. anyone no of a good engine builder in brizzy ?
cheers wayne

Talk to Hagens in Enogerra.

The 8v and 16v have different pistons too, 2 valve insets as opposed to 4 on the 16v.
