A mate is looking to build a straight gas g16a for various reasons I won't go into. I'm looking at setting up the gas. As its straight gas we were looking at removing the carbi completely (full high compression rebuild to suit gas etc), making up an adaptor plate and running a baleno throttle body then a 90' elbow up to the mixer. Obviously there will be a fair bit involved however we would like to run the idle stepper motor/solinoid on a variable resistor or something similar in the cab.. This will let us change the cold idle etc and allow us to use it very similar to a hand throttle. I know there are a few guys who are in the know about this kind of thing here so would any one be able to help me out with ideas of how to do this?? It has 3 wires on it.

The stepper or simple solenoid will require dedicated drivers, not just a simple variable resistor. Simplest setup would be to use a solenoid type and make up a PWM drive circuit out of a 555 timer chip.
