My understanding is that at present the laws in qld regarding lift and tyre size is that you can legally have a lift of up to 75mm and tyres up to 50mm larger than stock. In the future I want to run 225s or 30s which are over the allowed 50mm. I know that in NSW you can get an engineering cert to make it legal, is there any thing equivelant to this in QLD? And if I don't have this and have an accident can my insurance refuse to pay up? All of my mods are covered on the policy but they state very clearly that they only cover "LEGAL" modifications. A google search on this topic yields wildly differing answers / opinions. Very interested to hear from the QLD jimny drivers on big tyres. |

you can have 100mm of lift altogether so say 2 inch lift 2 inch tyre or 3 inch lift and 1 inch tyre |

From TMR: Vehicle lifts that do not exceed 75mm, and are achieved by modification of the suspension and fitting of alternate tyres and rims only (do not include a body lift) do not require certification under the LS9 code. Any person performing this type of modification must ensure the modified vehicle meets all the technical requirements of the LS9 and LS10 sections of this code, however no formal certification or lane change test is required. PDF located here : http://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/~/media/Safet ... 2part1.pdf I have a 2 inch suspension lift with 30's and is just fine. |

I had an accident with my 80mm and 235's and insurance covered it, they had to prove it was the mods that caused the accident |
