Hi guys, I'm thinking about buying myself as a little daily runabout a SWB 1.6L Vit. There are heaps on gumtree but most are the soft top. What are these like to daily drive? Would you recommend a hard top? Also I notice that some are the G16A and some the G16B. Is there much difference between the two other than carby and fuel Injected? Is one engine way better than the other? Is there anything to look out for / completely avoid / etc? Also if you know of any like this in PERTH that are for sale please link me to them. Many regards, Russ |

there is some good buying advice in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=37&t=41717&hilit=cj+outers personally i'd try & find a G16b hardtop, but it comes down to price etc. the lack of security with a daily driven soft top would drive me nuts not being able to leave anything of value in the car. |

Thanks for the link Atari! Yeah I prefer the hardtop. Always have. What would a good price be for something like this? http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/willetto ... 1021778728 |

I daily drive a SWB '97 Vit Softtop in Mt Gambier. Pros: G16b = EFI is great. Top off in summer. Looks cool. Cons: Noisy. Rain, road noise, people walking in the street. I hear all of it. About as secure as a tent (Though I can secure the rear drawers and glovebox). Opening the back door in a hurry is a hassle. 5 clips, 2 zips and a handle. When I bought mine i lived in Renmark. If I could buy again I'd buy a hardtop. Unless you live somewhere warm and could put the top down often. ::edit:: I almost forgot! Pro: SMELLS! With the top off you can smell everything. From Bakery to Sewer farm, ok, maybe not always a Pro... |
