just pull up on the shroud and remove then a bit of force and cluster should come out |

If you can't loosen the bolts holding the steering column then try loosening off the bolts that hold the dash down |

Is your car at your place or work? If its at work I can swing past sometime tomorrow afternoon and undo them. |

Drop the bolts that hold column to crossmember, it should drop far enough to give dash clearances (If its same as my vit) |

undo the two bolts on top and give it a GOOD pull. |

Or just buy the right tool! (BTW the Calamari ring on the gearstick is past it's useby date. Throw it out.) |

Those bolts on the bottom of the column that are torx usually have a big flat head slot in them. That's how I've gotten them undone previously. |

i've removed my cluster a few times and never had to undo that... just a bit of "gentle" persuasion and it does get over that switch. |

You can find a allen key that will fit in the torx head bolt. Then when you get them out, use a hacksaw to put a slot across the top for a flat head screwdriver, or replace the bolts with something else. |

Um the the bolts on the column it will drop it down enough to pull the cluster out |
