hey all. I have quite a lot of steering shake under heavy braking. and have had it since i bought the car. most of the time i never bake that hard but if a have to brake suddenly the steering and really the whole car shakes all over the place and the only way to stop it is to let the brakes off. haha can be scary if your not expecting it. anyone else have this problem and anyone know what causes it? could maybe a steering dampener fix this? :S are my brakes doing something strange? ABS maybe? if anyone has any ideas it would be great. thanks Ben |

Steering dampener does help.. is it standed or modded? |

get your front discs machined  if your stearing shimmys when braking its your front discs, if your pedal pulsates and you feel your ass end vibrate when shaking its your rears.
to tell for sure take ya front wheels off and set a dial guage up to your disc face with a mag base and see if youve got excesive run out on those bad boys. |

standard... what should my discs look like? they are a little lumpy. like have tiny bumps running in rings on them... |

I agree... discs need attention, however also check the bolts holding the calipers on to make sure they are not loose, causing the problem in the first place. If they are tight then a strip down to the wheel bearings maybe needed to check that they arent shagged.

Machine your rotors, fit a steering dampener, ( Suzuki just released one ) then adj your steering box, you`ll think it`s a new car!
