I believe the 1lt Transfer Cases are 1:1 Ratio in hi?

are there any others that also have a similar gearing?

1l is 1:1.580 in high. One of the Jimny cases is 1:1 or something around that.

What do you want a 1:1 transfer for?

Practically every transfer case made is 1:1 in high, other than older LT 230 and Suzuki.

What are you trying to achieve?

Just getting all my info before i start something i cant finish.

I want to use my sierra as my camping and weekend warrior.

but i want to achieve a lower reduction for rock crawling with out sacrificing my beach driving as im happy how it is on the beach.

i looked into doing a dual tcase setup and also looking at the 4 speed atlas tcase.

i have a spare stock 1.3 tcase at home i was going to mod to fit in front of my current tcase (4.?:1) where the jack shaft is. moving the stock position of the transfer case back abit to accomadate

so im just getting what info i can to decide what i want to do

(i have left over tax return, figure spend it on the zuki)

you are looking at a lot of fab work to do this, for very little gain.

maybe post up the gearing you have now, + tire size and we can make some realistic suggestions

i have 4.?:1 in my transfer case running 32" tyres

high way driving is about 3k rpm sitting on 100kmh (does it easily with the 1.6)

i want to gear down more for rock crawling but i do just as much beach driving and i dont want to sit on 5 in low on the beach for ages just to get to where i need

so just looking for best options

Gear high range up a bit so you are at, say, 3700rpm on the highway and use high range on the beach.

if you go from 4.1 transfer to 4.9 gears your only going to gain 200 rpm at 100 in 5th
but you will go from 56 : 1 to 66: 1 in low

5.1:1 transfer gears will be around 250 rpm in high and down to nearly 70:1 in low

6.5 gears will take to you 3500 rpm at 100 in 5th but will give you 87:1 reduction in low

as you can see the high range doesnt really change all that much

Assuming you have 3K to spend on a Tcase, why don't you go AW4, trimmed down Vit case and a Sierra case behind that to fix up the highrange gearing...

Wouldn't cost Anywhere near as much as an atlas. Still would be cool to see a zook with one.

well budget left overs from my return is $3500.

i figure ill consult with Wilso's Customs and get some suspensions mods and just get 6.5s and go from there.

Debatable but close. The only real competition in the aftermarket is the STAK case which were experiencing problems with jumping out of gear. However they have just been bought out by TWF and are going to be very comparable to an atlas with more options it seems. Which is an option that the OP may consider but I think you're looking at extreme overkill.

It's annoying the wasted space in the vitara transfer/gearbox I reckon, I think after talking about it here we decided it was because the auto box is longer so the manual box has a gap full of air at the output end before the transfer case bolts up.

hahaha man i get quite angry when i do shit like that. spent 2hrs swaping starters around checking if that were duds.... gave up bought a new one got it in and then snapped the positive off the solenoid

A mate was lookin at getting a atlas case in his wrangler and the bloke who's building it said said there's a case that's stronger and lighter... He's told about 10 times.... But I forgot hahaha it's something like a rock monster or something

The only case I could imagine that would be a lot stronger is a np205 but they are a heavy cast iron case with only a 2:1 low range.I have just fitted an atlas to a vit aw4 and it's definitely overkill and I'm not even sure it would fit between the chassis rails as it doesn't even come close in a sierra.
