I have just finished installing the 1510 lockrite into my Vitara front centre using the original Vitara side gears and a sierra 4 pin shaft block.

I test bolted up the crown wheel and inserted my axle and stub shaft to test it a little. By standing on my stub shaft and turning the other driveshaft quickly I can get it to ratchet no worries at all. Now my question is should it unlock so easily? I installed it as per instruction with original thrust washers on side gears and supplied thick washers in the centre either side of the shaft block.

It all went together easily and you really can't get it wrong i would've thought? Just a bit unsure of the effort needed to unlock it.

Also for those that also have one in their Vits front. The original Vit pin has a cotter dowel to hold it in place. I have used the lockrite pin supplied and it is a smudge longer and has no hole for the cotter dowel. Once the crown wheel goes on it stops it front pulling out but it does slide some 8mm or so side to side. Is this ok?

Any advice appreciated.

yes it is supposed to ratchet easily . if you look at the design of the lockrite it has ramps where the pins are so that under load it will not unlock , but under light load or cornering it will unload and ratchet freely . loading it up under light or no load will break the pins and springs.

drill and tap your carrier for a grub screw to hold the locker pins in place.
