Hi folks  Rebuilding my stock carb and the rebuild kit has stuff all info with it. Worst diagram ever!! The inevitable happened of course, there's a few wee bits that sproinged out and I didn't see where they came from.. The FSM has a fairly good diagram of the anatomy but wondered who had a good, well detailed diagram or some good tips?? Thanks all

Well, when I did it I had springs and check balls launch out too. I might go and get the manual to jog my memory if you want? Its the spring and ball check for the accelerator pump you are asking about, right? Turns out I did the carby kit for nothing, my throttle pivot was worn. |

Thanks mate!! There are a few parts that took me by surprise!! Springs and a wee ball.. There's a tiny rubber O ring that appeared on my workbench.. And I'm not sure what else I've cocked up until I'm ready to plug it all back together

Oh, and I should stipulate that it's a 1.3 Sierra '93 with stock Aisin carb |

No probs. I couldnt find the manual so i opened up my parts carby. See the little brass nozzle that shoots fuel into the throat? It is connected to a hole in the body of the carb. It goes checkball, spring and then metal bit. The o ring goes around the metal part that sits on the spring. |

Ok.. Lets see if any of you carby boffins out there can confirm or slander my work.. Firstly, it goes Filter basket (not pictured) washer, needle seat then needle. Held in by the float assy. Right?? I'm no carb boffin - thats what I'd call JrZook - but it looks okay to me. The first couple of pics are logical, ie: copper seal, seat and needle, works like a toilet  . And the next two seem fine. The biggest problem AFAIK is having a worn throttle pivot causing vac leaks, and the biggest PITA is setting float height. Thats all there is to it but if those two factors aren't satisfied it will never run right (ask how I know  )

Ha!! These sure can be dramatic issues!! And carby's are so far beyond my diagnostic ability!! I've got a running carby coming as a spare, so if it doesn't run right I can swap them over and still tonk around while I pull my hair out trying to figure the probs with this one.. Next trick, confidently assemble the pump plunger assy!!! Eeeek |

Ok next stage, I've just spotted on the diagram is the pump discharge assy.. It goes Ball- pump discharge check (large), then spring, then weight. All in the wee hole at the end of the screw driver... Only I don't seem to have a freakin spring for there!!! Attachment: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1376463787.154372.jpg

Yeah, I had that assy confused with the pump plunger assy.. I was taking apart the pump plunger when the pump discharge assy sproinged out.. I thought it came out of the same hole but I've found that it doesn't.. I'm getting to the bottom of it gradually but yeah, dreading the linkages bit  Anybody out there have a spring you want to part with?? Or a roached out carby you want to get out of your shed?? |

I found a range of springs usefull for carbys at mitre 10. Also the left over oring could be for the end of the idle solenoid. |

I could definitely search for a spring but I don't know what size/length/strength to look for.. Trying to find a clapped out carby that I can strip for one.. Anyone have a dead one laying around?? And yep!! The spare o-ring is from the idle solenoid!! Thanks coily, you picked it like a dirt nose

Top bracket I believe holds/supports the fuel inlet tube on the top of the carb. The spring I think is for the linkage setup on the secondary. Post up some pics of your carb and I may be able to point it out |

I'm pretty sure about the first position. Don't quote me on the second, but I believe the spring goes there to hold the secondary arm up or something. You will have to test that by opening the throttle to WOT then compress the vac pot to open the secondary. Once you let go nothing should bind Attachment: carb1.jpg Attachment: carb2.jpg

Is there a hook for the spring between the 2 water pipes so the spring is vertical? If so try that. It's been ages since I've played with the stock aisin carb |
