Hey everyone.
Been getting some noises from the clutch bearing(s) slowly building up over time and its now time to fix. So I've gone ahead and ordered a new clutch (not HD) kit, spigot & thrust/throwout brg, alignment tool, and a new rear main seal to fix it up.

All the parts are on the way, so no drama's there or anything. Just wondering if can get some tips from anyone who's done the job on a Jim before? anything to look out for? tips on making the task easier?

Im planning on dropping the gearbox out fully to make it easier to access everything, ill be machining the flywheel obviously too. Its mainly the dissasembly/reassembly im concerned about.

Hopefully ill have a spare hand to take some pics when the time comes to make a nice 'good tech' article.

Not specifically jimny, but a good torque wrench and some locktite on the flywheel and clutch cover bolts is recomended.

And be very careful not to damage the sealing surafces of the main seal, or you'll never get it to seal.

Thanks dave, good tip. I'll have to borrow my neighbors torque wrench I think.

There is a Big Jimny "How To" guide that might be worth a read here: http://www.bigjimny.com/images/document ... Clutch.pdf

They don't remove the gearbox completely but I think if you are willing to drop the box completely it would make the job easier.

I pulled the gearbox entirely out Scales, a little bit fiddly, but worth the extra room! Easy enough job, and to be honest if you've got a rattle gun, I nicked everything up with it. We opted for an 'exedy' replacement clutch, not heavy duty, and it's been great so far with no slips and quite light. I replaced the clutch cable at the same time, as ours was binding when pushing it in, and it's absolutely perfect now!
