Hi All, just mounted the GTI motor into the Sierra and used a passanger side VL Engine mount. it was a tight squeez but all went together fine, however the engine is slightly crooked (pointing to the passanger side about 10mm, its noticable as the gearbox mount does not line up with the bracket.)

Has anyone had this problem and what is the best fix? do I notch the engine mount bracket holes and if so which bracket, chassis or engine?

oh ok, so its common with this then.... not a big issue as its not enough to notice or throw the driveline off, I just cant get the gearbox mount in as it does not line up by about <10mm. will undoing the engine mount, then getting the gearbox mount on and redoing the engine mount do the trick or a better way about it?

I do recall using a large bar to persuade it to fit at that stage.

If you have to force a rubber mount for it to fit, the sooner it will split

That's what she said

The vl's are stronger due to trying to control a larger motor. Even if you just fit the passenger side as it gets the most torque twist, its better than stock.

Yep. Well took the engine mount off. Bolted up the gearbox, put the mount back in and all fine. Must of just needed realigning. Cheers.
