hi all quick question what options are there for stronger cv's and axles for a jimny and where can you get them

Not sure on the axles. I would recommend upgrading to 26 spline and using Sierra CVs. You will need to mod your FWH to allow or teh extra length.
I used trialjimny axles but they are very expensive, and the CVs broke rather quickly.

I think JoeBlow does sets and there is a couple of threads already on this very subject.

mmm depends ho much needs cutting off and are the splins the same?

Not much. Its just the CV rubs on the locking hub. 31zook got spacers made to stop the rubbing, but its stressing the bolts and they're breaking.

i have manual locking hubs so i wonder it it will be ok
and do i have to change the diff gears?

They were fitted with manual hubs.
26spline axles will require 26spline side gears.

oops. meant to post it here...

As I am using FWH AND Sierra CV's I had to have quite a thick spacer, 16mm. The spacer is sealed and grub screwed to the locking hub, and sealed to the wheel hub. The 6 holes are a tight fit for minimal movement around studs (not bolts). These studs have a finer thread on the outside for better tightening.

When I had a rough cut 10mm spacer and bolts, I was always breaking bolts. The holes were too sloppy. I have not broken a stud with the new system since. Except to say I stripped the thread because I overtightened one when tensioning. They do need tensioning every so often.

Well with stronger CVs/Axles ten you have bugsta tim and I can't keep our hubs on. We have 8mm spacers.

After dan made the point of him having no dramas with hub bolts, I'm going to remove the spacer and trim the length of the CV stub. Hopefully more robust.

What makes you say they are stronger than what I have?
I have never broken an axle, nor a CV in quite a while. I'm pretty happy with teh setup I have now.

I assume your 22 spline still? And on Subaru CVs?

As I mentioned, I am using trialjimny axles, which are 26 spline, and Sierra CVs. Don't know where Subaru comes into it.

I had the ARB side gears re-splined to match the TJ axles. I broke his CVs just driving up the road, so I now have CVs that Derek of suzisport sourced from the states. All he would tell me is that they are HD Sierra. I have only broken 1 at my own fault.

If your CVs/axles are from the UK/England they use Subaru CVs as their upgrade CV.

From the states I'm not sure...

You shouldn't be able to brake a CV no matter what you do due to your diff being so small. The teeth should break off of the R&P well before a DT CV.

Can anyone tell me how much has to be trimed off stock 1.3 cv, s and axles to fit in the jimny and do they have to be resplined?
