A panelbeater will use a planishing hammer and a flat dolly. If you dont have these tools you can substitute any flat hard object for the dolly, even a block of wood but the heavier the better so it bounces less when you hit the panel.
For the hammer dont use a heavey ball hammer, try and use a lighter flattish or slightly curved hammer , that will be neater.
Hold the Dolly (or whatever you improvise with) on the outside/painted side and even wrap it in a cloth to protect the paintwork. Hold it flat against the panel and press square and firmly.

Then tap the edge upwards working your way along sliding the dolly as you go. The dolly acts like a counterweight so you dont just bash the panel outwards.

And expect the paint to crack,it usually does.

EDIT: If the rear wheelarch is double skinned (2 faces spotwelded together) it will be quite a bit harder to bend.
If you have pastic wheelarch liners these may need to be removed or pushed back so you dont smash them to pieces when you hammer.

Yeah they work well. If you use a hot air gun and warm the panel as you slowly roll the guard, it is possible to do it without cracking the paint.

Softball or baseball bat
Two people and one drives the car slowly to use the tyre to roll the bat around the wheel well and the other holds the bat and controls it
Quieter and quicker than belting a hammer over and over again

I imagine the baseball bat method only works when there is minimal clearance already not when there is over 100+ mm
