I was wondering if a newer (GV) steering wheel, with audio controls would fit on an older first gen. Vit. I don't have air bags so that won't be an issue, its mainly the spline count and how the wires come out from the controls - some kind of slip ring I should think.

It's most likely to be a clock spring. I'd reckon you'd need to swap the column with the wheel to get everything to work together.

No idea. I'm only commenting on the nature of the connections, which will be a clock spring.
