Post subject:  Installing rear seats 1992 sierra

Just aquired some rear seats for my 1992 sierra (thanks Virt)

The seats are from a 1994 model.

The seat belt holes and the rear mounting hook (already there) seem to work fine.

The front mount ends up being about 30mm short of the logical threaded holes.
3 of the 4 of these holes have something bolted from underneath into them, through a cross member.

Is there another part I need ?

If I drill a hole where the mounting bracket sits it will just be through the tub floor
This seems a little dodgy to me.

Open to suggestions.

Photos in the morning if required

There's a split seat and a 1 piece seat, IIRC they have different mounts?

I know a wreckers who has a Sierra with rear seats (which are stuffed) if you need any parts off them.

I have the single seat that folds forwards, AFAIK/Remember it only bolts at the front and latches as the back onto the plate with the upside down "U" welded to it, which is in turn bolted to the floor pan.

Edit: if you have a seat like mine I don't mind taking pics/uploading

Can you spin the rear mount around so if faces 180 degrees to where it is now to push the seat forward. Can't tell if this will work without a pic

Thank you and yes, this is the solution.

I did try this the other day when I first asked the question.

Had another look today and there is more movement than first thought.

FWIW I have 2 individual seats but the method is the same.

Now getting the bolts out may be another story.......... :deadhorse:

Cheers, no I have sorted it out.
There is more movement in the rear mechanism than I first thought.
Logic suggests bolt the front and clip the back but it didn't work at first.
Some gentle bfh work and it fits.

The issue seems to be fitting 20 year old seats into a 20 year old car that never had rear seats
