Nah, pretty much no difference in wear as far as I can tell.

am thinking of gettin an auto locker in the rear diff of my zook, i have one in the front and its sick, was wondering what sort of tyre wear you get compared to the original open diff, and another bad side affects |

i have a spartin in the back diff, road manners are fine in the lwb tyres look to be wearing good, sure, they would be better with a open center... |

had one in the rear for almost 50,000km almost no difference in tyre wear, BUT in saying that it depends on how its set up. if its really tight, then it will chirp the tyres more and wear out things faster. |

Shandy do you find it hard when letting out the clutch when starting in first to not let it bang because of the slack in the driveline? Idn mine might need to be tightened  but there is definitely an art to it!

Just need to release it slowly and its fine. Other wise getting it re-shimmed would help. |

Thought about it... Then ny grandpa got in and drove it no problems he said it was like driving the old trucks he used to lol. One other thing sometimes if I put my foot on the clutch for a low speed really tight corner (like a driveway or car park) it doesn't rellease and I can hear it jolting around this only happens very rarely though... Has that happened to you? Thanks mate just trying to work out what's 'normal' lol |

yep does that to, i have found that when it starts to do that, pop it into neutral and release the clutch and it would stop jolting. just one of the joys of own a auto locked car ahah |

Ok sweet ill give that a go thanks shandy! And mud magnet I can only talk for a vitara but I think you'd be better off spending the bit extra for a chinasoong I'm not sure thought, it's great having it off road but its my daily driver, I love it sometimes and hate it others! Been trying to find a steel diff close to adelaide so. Could chuck it in the front then only use it when I'm 4x4! |

Another think I think I'd try a spartan locker next time as well some guys on here have found they work better than lock rights after having both... |

ive blown up a lockright and i blew up my spartan on friday it will compromise handling on road with all of the above comments ^ being common behaviour. you do learn to live with it but you'll never grow to like it. offroad they work a treat always works when it should and makes it 2x more capable until it breaks good for the money, im never getting another. |

I've had Spartans and Lockrights. Spartan was tight from the start and took a while to bed in and start unlocking. Then it became loose and shit. I shimmed it up and it was great, had no issues until i sold it. I now have lockrights. They worked from the start with a thin shim on each side gear and havent changed since. Drives fine. No complaints. Would buy again and again. |

I wouldnt buy a Spartan over a Lockright again. It was a pain in the arse for a fair while. When I chuck a 4.6 gearset into my front diff ill chuck some shims in so then the front end shouldn't have to come apart for a very long time. I will be buying a Lockright for my Vitara rear end also. |

turns out my spartan didnt blow up, it was a snapped axle which then chewed the diff gears. so ill be reinstalling the spartan in a new rear diff still dont think id buy another one especially with options like Chinese airlockers available for not much more. at least if that fucks up you have an open diff not 1wd or nothing |

Arent the Chingpoong lockers triple the cost of an auto locker? I was lucky and got my lockers on special. Two Lockrights for about $250. The chingpoong lockers actually break properly. Not just fail to operate. Have seen a couple of cracked/flogged out ones. |
