Calling LJ 80/81 owners

I need a photo or two of the bonnet latch set up, Bonnet and body. Its been too long since I took it apart and I think there may be some bits missing

So there is no extra support, very flimsy. Have you got a pic of the bonnet where it latches - is there anything there?

Dunno if these help.

FWIW I've never had an LJ where the under bonnet latch works well enough for me to trust it. Having to use a screw driver to loosen the clip that holds the knob everytime you want to get under the bonnet is pretty shit too. I'd adapt one from another car that doesn't need the knob held out to keep it closed. I don't use mine at all, I just use the bonnet clips.

Thanks
I just finished trolling through all the LJ builds and have worked out its the latches on the side that hold it down. I know it all light gauge but I can't believe how week it is where the centre latch is.
Next question, where can I get latches from?

Pester someone into sending Bruce one so he can copy it. They're pretty much unobtainable second hand.

The centre latch is not so much the main means of holding the bonnet down like on other cars, it's more of a security lock, although in a Soft-top the glovebox release is accessible if you know where to look for it!. The side latches are the main method of securing the bonnet.

A surprising source of many New Old Stock LJ80 items is E-Bay Germany. Brand new side latches turn up there fairly often, along with new indicator, tail, etc lamp assemblies. Note that Europe only got the LJ80-II, or what we call the Stockman model. Sadly, only about 25% of sellers are prepared to post worldwide.

Thanks all

I think I have one of the latches. If I find I'll shoot it to Bruce. How much do you think they would be Bruce?
