maintain your current engine is the cheapest option on a budget. If you're running larger tyres, find a way to address the gearing. |

An engine swap, go harder, and on a budget don't really go together, especially if you add "legal" to that. I'd suggest a g16b. Should be possible for between $2k and $4k, depending on your own level of skill and price you get a donor motor for. Steve. |

if your patient you can do it cheap. i got my G16B for $600 with gear box. but opt for the adapter to sierra gearbox was a benT for $180 i think? between myself and my mechanic friend and auto elecy brother we did it all our selves over 4 weeks (we did it in our spare time) |

Fit a gear drive transfer case. It will correct road gearing and lower low range quite a bit. Steve. |

Spookie wrote: Cant find anything on ebay under Switch light 1 liter transfer case You are looking for a 1 litre transfer case with a 4wd switch light. I assumed you would search up 1 litre transfers here first to find out what the hell I mean by switch light 1 litre transfer case. There are none for sale at the moment here or ebay but they do come up, and you will need to move fast when one does. They are an easy and cheap(er) gearing option and hence the demand is high. Alternatively you could do an after market gear set, + a later model case, way more dear than a 1 litre case at around 150 for the core case and 5-600 for gears plus any new bearings and seals (or shafts ).

^^ Trebor wrote: Hey guys anyone know if a 2 ltr ford focus engine would work/has anyone tried to do this conversion and how hard/expensive is it to legally do an engine conversion in WA No. Probably not. Very hard. Expensive. Consult engineer You would be out on your own trying to get that engine to work. I doubt there are gearbox options that will work and you will also have to deal with the factory immobiliser too. Just because you may be able to get an engine cheap doesnt make it worthwhile. Staying within the Suzuki platform with a G16B or a J20A are the best options, its all been done before and is mostly bolt in and do some wiring. If I had to pick something outside what suzuki made I would be after something that was all alloy and was able to take an AW4 auto. |

J20a, needs a vitara gearbox swap though and that requires lots of cutting and welding. |

^^^ And I think that g13a's are fully sick I think that there's more ways than LS engines to make power but apparently thats Gaaay! Anyway: The OP already has a wanted ad for G16b: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=42887 Doesn't seem interested in gearing. |
