i had my unis on my rear shaft replaced and at 90-100kmh i am getting vibration and noise. i went to check if maybe the shaft is not quite centered and notice the new bearing has a grease nipple on 1 side. would that nipple on one side only throw off the balance? |

been a long time since i had a sierra, but i seem to remember mine doing the same thing after i pulled the rear shaft off, in my case it was because i didn't line up the markings on the slip yoke and unbalanced the shaft. i would be looking there first |

No, it's normal for Unis to have a grease nipple on one side only. My guess is with Ausuki. Steve. |

the uni joints i got from 4wd Products had the grease nipple in one of the caps & when fitted to the rear tail shaft on the diff end the nipple is pretty venerable. i also thought it might cause a vibration so, i made up a little grub screw from a chopped down bolt to plug the hole as i didn't want the grease nipple getting damaged or ripped out. grease nipple is in the same spot as this pic.

there should be "match marks" on the yokes & tail shafts & also on the slip joint on the tail shaft, it's so you can put them back together all lined up. |

Pin punched indents on the face of each slip joint pointing towards each other. Mine were highlighted by a spot of white paint. Align the splines so those marks are in sync to get your driveshaft in-phase to minimise vibration. |

There's a dot stamped on the end of the male splined section and another dot under the rubber boot on the female section. Obviously you have the boot slid down the male section and you slip it over the lip once they're together. Atari, that's impressively OCD. Edit: beaten. |

probably the easiest way to explain it without pictures is .. look at how the yolk and flange in your jackshaft/intermediate shaft are aligned .. ie. both the inbound joints where the uni goes are aligned straight. the tailshaft and front shaft should be aligned the same way.. |
