Without any preparation, roughly the centre of the wheel. 350mm. With extended breathers on the diffs, about 50mm below the lowest point of the trans tunnel where the handbrake bolts. With breathers on the transfer and gearbox, about level with the bottom of the steering wheel. Solid water depth beyond that is asking for trouble for a number of reasons. Bear in mind too that fresh clean water is pretty kind on the car, but muddy water is very destructive, so even with breathers, muddy water will trash everything quickly. Even with breathers, service intervals, especially for bearings and hubs increases significantly the more water you drive through. Some always gets in. Sierras leak water pretty badly. Be aware that you won't stop water coming in to the interior if you cross water above the sills. Steve. |
