Post subject:  SJ80 revs issue

I am having issues with my sierra, every time I try to accelerate weather it is from stand still or while already moving my revs drop hugly (if I want to get going I have to be atleast at 4000 revs or it will stall)

Anyone know what it might be??

Once underway how does it respond to the throttle.

How long since you done a service, ie looked at rotor cap leads and plugs, replaced.

I had similar sounding issue awhile back... cleaned out the fuel lines and replaced the fuel filter and no problems since.

Follow the fuel lines on inner side of the drivers side chassis rail to the rear wheel arch where you should see a filter bolted onto a bracket on the rail.

Yeh I found it and the new fuel filter didn't fix it. I have a carburettor repair kit is there anything that I need to look out for when pull apart or and put I back together????

So aside from that does it drive just fine? What are the other symptoms?

unsure about sj80 but earlier sierra had a clutch pedal switch for emission control , if the switch played up displayed similar symptoms to yours , you disconnect the wires to the switch and jump them with a jumper wire and it fixed it.. worth a shot anyway if the sj80 does indeed have this switch.

Is it just revving low rpms or backfiring and shaking?

Thanx guys for all the help it turns out that it was the fuel filter I just had to run it a little longer it has completely fixed now :-)

Just fitted some new tyres, I now have all terrains instead of almost bald road tyres
