Post subject:  Is this my carb spring?

hey guys I'm rebuilding the carb off a 1.3l g13a motor but I've lost the little spring that jumps out when you take the top cover off. I've looked everywhere I had the carb and I found one spring on the ground I think must be it but it doesn't look the right size (looks too long and skinny) also doesn't really seem to fit in the carb either, does the correct size spring matter too much? I'd happily just go and buy one but no one seems to stock micro parts like this! The spring doesn't fit over that metal thing either as seen in the photo if it's meant to? Just thought I'd check before putting it all back together!

cheers!!

I'm pretty sure it should. Ball, spring, steel thing is the order it should be in (I think, its been a few months!), and the spring slips nicely onto the ball too.

I'd keep looking.

The spring is long gone and I can't find a wreckers or suzuki dealer that can get me one lol. There's absolutely no way I can get one it's a joke. I've found a couple of g13a motors in Holden Barinas but the carbs on them look different but could just use one of those instead of my carb?

What would happen if I put my carb back together without that spring or a different sized spring? Would it still drive??

Cheers

you need the spring..and you need the right spring.

Have you put up a WTB for a whole new carby?

Someone on here will have a g13a carby lying around. you dont even need a good one, just one to steal parts off.

FYI bunnings/masters stock a rather helpful range of small compression springs. You may have some luck there.

i have that spring in stock , unfortunately it comes as a "kit" , you have to buy the "weight" (the little aluminium part) the spring and the ball all together , they dont come as seperate parts. and jsut off the top of my head im pretty sure they are , and i hope you are sitting down ..... about $19 ...

that assembly is for the accelerator pump circuit , if you dont use the spring fuel could constantly dribble into the venturi , too heavy a spring and you wont get enough fuel when tromping on the throttle , causing a flat spot . id guess a lighter spring than required would still do the job , but you wont find anything much lighter than the std spring ..
