I think I had the wrong idea of how a front shackle reversal worked. I just goggled images of this and it looks like you have a large block hanging from the front your chassis to the length of where your extended shackle was in the first place, then your spring is perched from there. My main reason for the reversal was to greatly improve approach angle. Am I now correct in thinking an extended shackle reversal will not improve approach angle??? It seems in a lot of 4wd situations my front shackles are always hitting first and getting in the road. Any advice would be appreciated.

I got 29's on now and don't really want to go to 31's till I get an engine conversion done to push em. Lower gearing not really the way I want to go as the 1 litre already screams its head off at 100kph.

The 1l is perfectly happy doing 11ty revs. Seriously, It'l sit on 5000rpm all day.

The calmini shackle reversal kit is also known as the fangs of death. You wont get a better anything out of it, it's badly designed and all round pointless.

Slider boxes are impractical for general 4WD use. They go in place of the shackle, the pin slides (usually on ball bearings) to take up the movement of the spring.

WOW who would've thought 8O While it looks like it may be comfy on road (the slider box) it won't help with the flex/wheel travel offroad.

Well if she doesn't mind a few more rev's I might look into transfer gears for 31's sooner down the track.

ever ridden a skateboard with the front trucks turned around so you've done a "shackle" reversal? it's horribly retarded, infact i reckon it's a fucked idea to even consider doing it to a 4wd.

Yeah I'll definitely give it a miss, I've been very happy with the set up I have it's just those pesky shackles getting in the road. But I suppose a set of 31's will fix that.

Speedway guys use them. Because of the way we hammer our suspension I'd go for the nylon block type like this. They wont last very long and you'l probably have to make you own to account for the greater travel we expect from our suspension, let alone fitting a suzuki spring into it. Obviously if you're mounting it directly to the chassis (for maximum approach angle) you'd need some mega lift springs and possibly caster plates backwards to get it back up to height.

The advantages in handling are obvious (speedways guys normally run brass bushes too) but for a 4WD, running a quick wearing part that I seriously doubt can take huge jarring forces and will limit flex doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Fit standard shackles with a taller spring - problem fixed and your car will handle much better as well!

Looks hella good for a trailer but.

Would have to be built to suit load expectations, but far superiour than some methods.
