Hey guys sorry if im having a bit of a noob moment. But I got some 1L gears and the input gear has something ive never seen before. ![]() ![]() Ive never seen this in the 10-12 Tcases ive pulled down. There is a bit of play in the extra spline does anyone know if this will cause chatter in the case? Cheers |

I was trying to work out what the hell you were on about, then I realised you meant that the gear is splined and attaches to the shaft, whereas normal input shafts just have the gear as part of the shaft. If you're super worried about it rattling couldn't you lock it on there with some of the loctite retaining compound or similar? |

I had the same thing in my original 1 litre (switched) case. The bearing presses against it (with the washer) to lock it on there so it shouldn't have free movement to be able to chatter. |

Was thinking about welding it... I might just machine up a washer with a step in it to press it on a bit tighter... |

It was used in the very early 1.0lt transfer cases, as there were two versions of the shaft for cases with or without the PTO. On the Non switched cases, there were also two ratios available, so the tooth count on the gear changed between the two. Later, Suzuki just found it easier to just make one whole gear/shaft for each application. The LJ50/80/early 1.0lt gearboxes also have this replaceable gear arrangement on the countershaft for 1st and 2nd gear, with different tooth counts available. |
