Hi,

Does anyone here know if I had an engineering certificate made out for a 2" body lift, rear v-bar, and extended rear link (trailing arm) in NSW , would the certificate be valid and accepted in QLD when I tow it there for a blue slip & registration?

(My Vitara will be requiring a blue slip, as I am overseas and won't be back in time to try attempt a simple renewal)

Doubtful - each state has their own rules, and what passes in one won't in another... Perhaps you can keep it rego'd in NSW to try circumvent that for as long as possible?

In Qld a 2" bodylift is just a blue mod plate approval. Easy as.

Dunno what a "rear v-bar" is...

Extended trailing arm/s are a big NO-NO in Qld.

Qld Transport will not accept any interstate paperwork.

unsure about other states laws but here in victoria if you buy a vehicle from any other state with a engineers certificate/blue plate etc its worthless here in victoria

down here the engineers certificate must be a current and be registered with vicroads within 14 days

I don't understand why the laws have never been unified throughout the country, it would make getting registration so much easier...

Short answer is engineering paperwork is useless outside the state in which it was issued.

As Atari guessed upper rear link is what I was referring to when I said rear V-bar. It's not a Calmini thou. Are these outlawed in Qld?

No extended trailing arm/s? That sounds a bit odd, as I am sure my cousin had that on a Toyota 4x4 and that was engineered. Where can I find a definite answer on this? ADR website isn't really the place for this is it?

1.1 BASIC MODIFICATIONS NOT REQUIRING CERTIFICATION
The following modifications may be performed without certification if they are carried out in
accordance with sub-section 2 General Requirements and the total change in vehicle height
resulting from all modifications performed, does not exceed 50mm.
Note: In NSW, although vehicles whose height has been changed up to 50mm do not
require certification by an engineering signatory, the registration authority must be
notified of the modification.
 Tyre and rim substitution carried out within the limits specified in this Section;
 Lowering and raising suspensions (by not more than one third of the original
suspension travel provided the original vehicle height is not increased or decreased by
more than 50mm);
 Raising the vehicle with a body lift kit provided the original vehicle height is not
increased by more than 50mm (refer to sub-section 4.11 for conditions and limitations);
 Shock absorber substitution;
 Spring and sway bar substitution;
 Track rod and strut brace installation;
 Steering wheel substitution (refer to sub-section 4.9 of this Section); and
 Power steering (manufacturer’s option) conversion.

I bought two cars from Sydney with engineers certificates. Both my Sierra and Barina had engine conversions done. I did a bit of homework prior to buying these vehicles and i got told from Vicroads that as long as the car is currently registered in that particular state with engineers certificate then it should be fine here. I guess the bird was right as i did end up getting both roadworthied (blueslipped?) and registered not long after it arrived. This would be a couple of year ago so rules may have changed.

I have sent him an enquiry via his webpage. He is a travelling engineer and comes down to the Gold Cost which is sweet considering that the car will be coming up from just around the corner from there near the state border.

Would anyone have answer to this question?
Where can I source a complete front axle with cv, either OEM quality or better? I've seen some on ebay but I seem to recall some people using heavy duty ones and from memory the cost of those was nearly on par with the OEM's. Maybe it was a forum member making them and selling them?

Try www.lowrangeoffroad.com for HD axles-CV's.
Commonly called Chromo's or DoubleToughs although there are a few different brands now.
These axles are 26 spline where they go into the diff centre so you will need to fit a rear centre to your front diff or at least change some side gears.

i think there needs to be a class action. Crushing cars is BS !
If real crime syndicates can take action against government to stop them being declared say for example outlaw motorcycle groups, then surely we can prevent vehicles being crushed without proper compensation.
