Post subject:  Wondering about CV popping out

Had a bit of drama today, went to a blast down onto the beach with plenty of time to spare before high tide, however on my way down the cut out to the beach i heard a loudish bang and turns out it was the front drivers side CV popping out.

Let the tyres down to 10 PSI in the rear and managed to get out of the tide line and then it took about an hour of mucking around before i was able to force the CV back into the diff by hand. Started the truck up and drove up and off the beach in 4wd.

After having pushed it all the way in, i took the truck through a couple of real dug out dirt tracks, and when i got home i can see the CV has moved about 1cm out of where it should sit.

Question is, should this hopefully just be a bad c clip on the end of the cv ?

Anyone come across this before ?

You running a locker or vitara center up front with a GV cv?

Too much droop in suspension can pull them out.
New c clip will be helpful.
CV support bush is wise.

Yip that's the one, GV cvs with vitara center getting rid of the balloon internals, no more actuator

I've got 2 inch lift springs with 2 inch strut extenders so I don't think it droops huge amounts,

Will start with c clip and look at getting the support bush, they are crazy expensive over here, 100 bucks for a small nylon bush

I think there is your problem...

Some diff drop brackets would help as well as the suggestions above.

X2. Strut spacers cause CV dropout.

Steve.

PM bruce on here to get the support bush cheaper. the GV and Vit CVs are slightly different lengths everyone trying to run the gv cvs in a vit center have been having the same problem.

Yep ^^ If you want to stop them popping out you'll need either a CV from an SV vitara, or you can get a 26 spline CV from an SE vit and run it till it breaks then put a GV shaft and outer onto the inner cv.

Pretty sure it will be sweet once you do that, CV's shouldn't be pulling out with only 2" strut tops...

Oh and also get a 26 spline inner axle from an SV/SE vitara too if you can because the gv one should be sticking out a few mm's further than what it should be. But it should be ok with it.
