Hey guys newbie here, ive looked around but haven't found a direct answer, will a liana 1.8 non vvt bolt into a 99jimny non vvt. The engine is already out of the car, that I want to buy. But has air con pump, power steer pump, and air intake manifold. And all the wiring for the 1.3, just wondering what else is needed, if conversion is clean swap.... Does it have to be engineered in nsw.
Thanks a lot guys.. Any help would be greatly appreciated,

It'll fit, however you'll need the gearbox and maybe the transfer from an m series, and I think the loom from the liana???

I'm pretty sure there's a thread in the good tech section where someone recently converted a g series to m series... That'll be a good starting point for all your major needs... Then look at the m-series conversion thread for all your minor mods for the job

Ok thanks, I'm having trouble understanding engine numbers though, is it g13bb from 88-00, and then from there on m13a,
Cause on eBay, there's and m13a engine out of a 99 jimny, so what's the go with that?

98-99 G13BB

2000-05 M13A NON VVT

06-Current M13A VVT

G series use a different box and transfer

M Series use the same box but different ratios for non VVT and VVT and I'm pretty sure only the VVT models have push button transfers.

The non VVT gearbox is the one you want if you want to do the sierra transfer upgrade ;)

My main concern with a G to M(VVT) swap is ECU. The G ECU would not know about some of the sensors, or the signals would be different, and a Liana ECU doers not know about 4WD.

Notice the engine mount on the front and the air box on the top. That's not out of a Jimny. Don't know what.

Both definitely M Series, but something is amiss with the years.

Would it be any different if they weren't vvt which they are not. :)

There is no way a G series ecu will run an M.

Ok thanks Steve, so would I have to change the loom as well as the ecu. Would it be easier fitting the 1.6 from a vitara, is that a g16bb or something,

Andre

Yep the 1.6 is way easier. Ben-t makes the adapter for the conversion I'm pretty sure

Ok, do you know anyone on here that's done it, is it straight bolt up (with the adapter )and will it work with the 1.3 loom and ecu
