Ok so this afternnon I took a drive down to a localy recomended engineer and picked his brain about my zook and a few other things.
Here are the questions I asked.

Q1 What is the max suspention lift?

A. In N.S.W. on a "standard" Suzuki Sierra no more then 6" total this can be made up of a few different things like springs, SPOA, shackles or RUF But no more then 6" on standard Diffs and Standard frame.
Non standard (different diffs, frame mods.....) will be on a case to case baises.

Q2 What are limitations on body lifts?

A. All body lifts are looked down on. They dont like to do them. But 2" is normaly ok if they are done right.

Q3 What is the biggest tire I can run ?

A. 31s pass everytime regardless. ANYTHING bigger will need bigger diffs. He said he has passed 35s on a LWB that had landcruiser 60s diffs under it. 33s are the biggest he would pass on hiluxs diffs.
But to add to that the diffs would have to pass inspection first.

Q4 When doing any engine swop what will make it pass?

A. He said all engine swops are on a case to case basis. The more common the swop the easier it will be to pass it. But what they look for is.
#1 is all the eco stuff on it (cat, 02 sensors .....)
#2 It is mounted as stong or stronger then what that motor is in its factory application.
#3 It is a safe upgrade in power (meaning its not a V8 in a mini kind of deal. Anything that is over double the power is seen as overkill and will be hard to pass.
#4 All the wiring is done correctly and safely.
#5 That all addaptor plates or convertions are done in a safe or stronger then factory way.
#6 It must pass a sound and exhaust test for that year model of engine
#7 It can not be leaking any fluids.

Q5 What are the costs to get a inspection done.

A. It all depends on time spent. Most engine swop/susspention inspections are around the $750 to $900 mark

No not as it is. I have to loose the wheels and loose the shackles. My engine will pass if I put the standard airbox back on it. everything else is ok.

a mod plate is not engineering.

qld has pretty specific rules on what engine can be passed in what car for a mod plate though, after that it gets dear

To clearify when I said mod plate i was talking about the addapter plate used to mount the engine to the trans.

SPOA is fine but they don't like body lifts. When body lifts are a very easy mod that don't effect to much in comparasion to SPOA with steering changes, induced stresses etc etc etc. Seems strange. It's very easy to do some mods very wrong yet others are less likely to be approved.

Athol Mullen a good engineer (possiable one of the best in aus) He passed my truck with 31s, 50mm BL and 50mm suspension about a year ago. $250 for the first item and $50 for everything after that. I paid $350 for my truck to be passed.

Im not sure that ge will pass the 31s anymore...

I just called a local engineer in vic and the max increase approved is 2 inches bigger than stock. Stocks are 26 inches so that puts my 30's already over and out unless i upgrade axels etc.

Think your self lucky, In qld we can only increase 15mm over standard.
