Hey guys
Just acquired a set of goodyear wrangler mtrs and they have to be mounted with the white lettering to the outside which I hate
Is just black permanent marker good enough to black the white out or does anyone have any other tricks up their sleeves

why don't you run them on opposing sides so the lettering is on the inside?

Because the tread pattern is asymmetrical and have to be mounted the right way

Or do they make left and right side tyres ?

They do run opposite to each other but if you Google Goodyear mtr kevlar and look up images you will see why they have to be mounted that way

Yes, your Sharpie is suitable for blackening the white letters, but you will have to redo them from time to time.
Don't try and buff the white letters off, unless you want whitewalls....

You can also buy black paint suitable for rubber, but you will still need to redo from time to time...

Wouldn't the cost of the paint be equal to (or close to) the price to refit the tyres on the rims the way you want? Am I missing something here? Someone on AZ might even do it for you for a few beers or some such.

Haha I'm a mechanic dude. I'll fit the tyres and flip Em all day long but they've been designed that way for a reason

I just don't like the white lettering. Every time I see a 4by with white lettering just makes me think what a hard ass lol

I'd be interested to see if there actually was a difference running them the wrong way.

Not a massive difference, even as claimed by Goodyear. But thats the intended way to mount them.

In the larger sizes on "race cars" they swear by running them with that bit of tread on the inside.

interestly they do look almost uni-directional. The drivers side tyre would pull water into the centre and create an aquaplane situation.

mind you i like to experiment and have run Silverstone Extremes in reverse on the front of the sierra to see if it helps to pull the car onto rocks etc rather then push off.

I hate white writing on outside as well it looks good for awhile and than looks shit as it wears.

I've heard many stories of people running aggressive directional tyres on backwards for more grabbing traction on rocks etc. Obviously they wouldn't work for shit in the wet

My treps on backwards dont feel any different either. Its still the way they go.
