| Post subject: | Sony Headunit In Jimny Problems |
Hi, I've just bought a Sony WX-GT90BT headunit and want to install it in my 2005 Jimny (newer style dash). The radio plug in my jimny has been cut off already by a previous owner. Can anybody tell me what colours in the car need to be connected to the colours from the stereo. The headunit colours are: Yellow (Battery +) Red (Acc +) Orange/White (Illumination) Black (-) Blue/White. (Rem out) SPEAKER COLOURS White (Front left +) White/Black (Front left -) Gray (Front right +) Gray/Black (Front right -) Green (Left rear +) Green/Black (Left rear -) Purple (Right rear +) Purple/Black (Right rear -) The Jimny colours are: Black White White/Black Red/Yellow (Illumination) SPEAKER COLOURS Blue (Front left -) Blue/Black (Front left +) Red/Green (Front right -) Red/Black (Front right +) Light Green/White Rear Light Green/Black Rear Gray/White Rear Gray/Black Rear I have the speaker wires all connected but the headunit will only turn on when all other wires (except rem out wire) are connected. Therefore the headunit is not holding memory. It will always revert back to demo mode. Anyone able to help? |

Do you have a test light or multimeter? If not then it might be a good idea to grab one tomorrow |

Do I connect the black cable (from my Jimny) to the black cable from the headunit? It had a little connector on the end and the book says earth it to the car. Can they just be connected together? |

jimny_timmy wrote: Yep It's better off going straight to a metal part of the dash, otherwise it can overload the circuit and blow the tail light fuse |

Well I've now fixed the headunit. To save time from trying connect the two wires I reconnected the plug to my Jimny and then bought two wiring harnesses. One Suzuki/Honda to ISO, and the other ISO to Sony 16 pin. Connected them but it still didnt work. Checked fuses under my dash and the Radio Dome fuse was blown as well and the Cigar fuse. Replaced both and now works perfectly. Thanks for all your help, really appreciate it. |
