First thing. I have the same engine and my fuel pump wire was pink
I had an issue with the engine not having enough earth
Apart from that I forgot to plug the ECU in at one stage took me half an hour to work that one out lol.

Hey guys, just looking to see if anybody's come across this problem?? I've just finished installing a 97 baleno 2 coil, engine into my 97 sierra. I've been struggling with the wiring for about 2 weeks and no luck. I've got everything wired up but not getting any spark. The injectors are staying on all the time and the fuel pump wire (yellow/blue) is not eathing for the prime or while cranking. I've tryed shaving and moving the crank angle sensor in and out to change the air gap but no luck. I can't get any codes out because the engine check light won't flash and it's wired up ok and I've bridged the terminals. Need help guys it's driving me insane, any ideas would be muchly appreciated, cheers Jon. |

Cheers for the help, I started with PJzooks diagram and wired it all up. Then found a manual with the same diagram and I can't find anything different. I've wired up the 3 earths (black and black/orange) and run them straight to the battery earth to try and take that out of the equation. I'm starting to think either the ecu or the crank angle sensor is stuffed. I've checked the sensor resistance and it seems ok. The injectors are all earthing with the ignition on and even if I disconnect the crank sensor they still stay on. |

I haven't wired it up yet I'm just using a test light on it. Can't get anything out of it. Threw a crank angle sensor into it no luck with that. I'll go through the wiring again and check it. It seems like an earth problem. |

So you also have no fuel pump priming when the ignition is turned on? If that's the case then its back to wiring issues. Crank sensor wont affect the fuel pump priming pulse. |

That's what I was thinking, I'm still convinced it's an earth problem with the wiring or the ecu. I think a trip to the auto elec is in order |

Earth the power steering pump wire will start first go if its wired right had one do the same thing |

That again points out to some wiring issues... |

Hooked the green/white wire to earth for the power steering, no change for anything |

#1. Hook up a permanent CEL as per the wiring diagram #2. Back probe all the ground connections in the ECU plug and check their continuity to the battery negative terminal. (Should be all less then ~5ohm) #3. Turn ignition on and back probe all ECU connections that should either have switched or constant 12V If you have the right wiring diagram and the fuel pump is wired correctly (one terminal to switched 12V the other to the corresponding ECU pin) you should get the CEL on with the ignition and the priming pulse happening. |

Hooked up the cel, checked for 12v at the black/white wire, white wire and red black all ok, 5 ohm's resistance out of the earths. Still nothing, went through and required everything, no luck. Ecu maybe?? |

I'm having the same problem but mine will run then stall and won't start again. When it runs like a dream for like 10min . Sorry to brake into your thread but I'm desprate as well |

Crank angle sensor might be getting hot and cutting out. Check the resistance when it's cold then when it cuts out |

5 ohms is too high for the earths, it should be nearly zero. |
