G'Day I was looking under the bonnet of the zuki and have noticed a sticker with the timing info. 5 BTDC with check connector short circuited at idling.... where is the check connector? Will post some more pics soon as zuki has had a few more add ons.. LSD - underbody guards - body lift - etc. Cheers |

Tried that and it made no differance what so ever. I run my 94 EFI 1.6 at 10-12 deg and only use Optimax or Vortex and it run sweet as like having another gear. But do not run it on unleaded it will rattle and ping bad |

hi all mine is behind the driver head side light at well. mine is set to 5 deg BTDC is this to early should it be around 10 ish? hope this help shandy |

My plug is on the RH side near the fuses with a rubber cap over it. Replace a washer Bottle and you found it after trying to find it for 2 years. What was it playing Hide and Seak Royce and the Washer Bottle was in on it to hey.  Maybe you need to look under there more often you might find another Dip Stick like the 1 driving it You might even find a switch to turn the Power Steer on.

Thanks all. I'll have a look tomorrow and see what I can find. I have set the timing before without the plug shorted and it seems to be fine. |

does shorting the monitor coupler plug put the idle into closed loop? what happens if you set it without the plug shorted? should other changes like adjusting the TPS should be done like this too? cheers |

Bridging out that plug will allow you to set the base idle and timing. The ECU will always adjust the idle according to loads, temp, ect. Bridging it out will stop the ECU from adjusting the idle and allow you to set idle and timing correctly. Edited for correct terminology

Technical point and flame me if you like but shorting something electrical will blow a fuse.. BRIDGING a plug will give a different result. Jas. |

10-12 on normal unleaded will ping its ass off, they are pretty close on stock timing cause the japs already have way better fuel than us |

FOUND... round white plug with white cap ... hiding under the washer bottle near fuses and battery. I guess no one has ever bridged this plug to set the timing ....
So I guess timing should be somewhere between 5 and 8. I want to run it on standard unleaded as higher octane fuel can be hard to get in some places . |

I jsut wind em up till they ping and then back it off a tad there is no need to recheck timing once set, it doesnt move |

Short , bridge they mean the same thing. It does make a differance, you can set it more accurately. On my 94 model the timing mark doesn't jump around as your looking at it , on my mates 93 model it made 3 degrees differance. Try it your self with someone helping. Short the C and D terminals and while your looking at the timing marks remove the bridge. You don't have to take anyones word for it then. Peter |

Chris..... Thanks for your help in this area... I've been playing around with the timing over the past few weeks, increasing it up to 12 degrees (plug bridged out) & running on normal ULP. With the run up to Cruiser park on the weekend I did notice a bit of pinging under load but u really had to listen for it. When I got back I re-adjusted the timing back to around the 9/10 degrees and all seems fine.... As Pete said, the difference between having the bridge in and not having it in can be up to 3degrees difference.... With the bridge in the timing is constant & w/o the bridge, the timing fluctuates a bit. All good in learning..... Might think/try running on PULP & adjust the timing accordingly to see how that goes...

I have set mine by adjusting until it pings and back off until it runs sweet and pulls well. I'm happy
