So to answer the question, as far as I am aware, the aw-4 and trimatic use different flexplates. You'll need the flex plate to suit an aw-4.
Anyone would think kenn has shares in Aisin-Warner

I have been told the flexplate is different between G16A and G16B? Which one do I need for an AW4 with a coil-on-head Baleno motor? Anyone got one for sale? Chris. |

G16A came with a traumatic, G16B came with a real auto AW4. |

It is for a AW3-72L Pajero auto if the truth be known so bicker all you like... With an AW-4 convertor and bellhousing. Simpler to ask an easier question I figured so thanks for the answers. I have decided to step back from the 13B rotary and three speed Mazda auto in mine for several reasons. Cooling capacity is good with the mustang radiator, unless mud caked. So no good. I have had a series of Failure to proceed incidents, one from overheating, one from a spark plug electrode falling off into the engine. And then a starter death in a metre of brown goo. The starter is pretty much the lowest point of the whole motor, and the bellhousing drains through it filling it with mud. And sick of rebuilding engines for a couple of trips. Rotary engines are all good, it's the drivers that cause failures. And I am one of them. I am sick of being towed home. The rotary is tremendous as far as on road driveability and on rocks and ruts with 6.5s and lockers and the 6000 odd useable revs are fantastic. Not so good is the change between high and low range as there is a huge gap between 1:1 third at 6.5 and 2.661:1 first at 1.8. And 4000 rpm at 100K. I hate slow cars so this is Killing me, but back to the 1.6 for now with sensible overdrive 4th and Trusty old pistons. So: does anyone have a G16B/AW4 flexplate sitting about that they would like to put in their wallet? |
