Post subject:  How much brake fluid in a GV?

Hiya all,

I need to flush the brakes on my GV shorty? Does anyone know much new fluid I will need to do a full flush, as oppossed to a bleed? Since they come in 500ml bottles it would really suck if I needed 600ml.

TIA

I reckon 2 bottles and bank on possibly heading off for another

you waste a fair bit flushing it cause it all mixes and if you strike a bubble you can go through a bit to get rid of it

if you have ABS you might need even more

Well it took just under 500ml (470ml maybe) and it appears to be flushed - colour changed from honey-amber to light blue (new fluid). I did pump the brakes a few extra times to make sure I got more blue coloured fluid out.

One thing I found strange is that there are only 3 nipples - RL, FL, FR with none on RR. I thought there would be 4. It appears the brake lines to RL go via RR. I don't have ABS.

There were no air bubbles and no spongeness when test driven :D :D :D

It seemed nearly too easy...

It is easy :D The no R/R nipple is pretty common, the later Sierras also have it along with a variety of other makes.
