I've done a search and was in the process of boring a hole to try and clean out heater core as water is pouring in from behind glove box when it rains.I noticed a square plastic box on side of heater(top of passengers feet) that looks like it has clips and was wondering what it is and if there's a filter inside?.Any help would be appreciated as i can't find drain tubes either. TIA

Im doubting it has a pollen filter .

In the case of leaf sprung sierras the drains are in the engine bay on the firewall . Put your finger up these and feel for crap blocking them up.

Square plastic box with clips on it, above passengers feet. In my leafy this is the A/C.

Although mine still leaks after cleaning them, most people resort to plating this up.

Take the grill below the windscreen off, and remove the tray. Check for cracks etc?

Yes, take that gill off (just a few push-in clips holding it in), but no need to remove anything else and get a garden hose and clean out the drain flap which drains excess water into the engine bay.

I have found the drain flap gets a bit 'sticky' and doesn't drain at all after being clogged with dust, henceforth water running onto the passenger floor after a highspeed r/h corner.

Thanks for all the replies,i'll give it a go before boring holes as the heater still works.

Car doesn't have Air,it looks like a square box with clips but will try & take a photo.

I don't remember a leaf Sierra having removable plastic clips, but same principle. I'm pretty sure on my Stepfathers Sierra we just used forced water from a hose into the grill beneath the windscreen to clear it out.

Tin top leafy definetly doesnt have a removable grille below windscreen.

I took my heater box apart and cleaned it out properly and replaced all the foam seals.

had same problem. the black grill under windscreen, take that off and fell for gunk and shit in there. clean it out = problem solved
