Post subject:  Suzuki Diagnostic Tool (SDT) cheap clones
Has anyone played around with the cheap "knock off" Suzuki Diagnostic Tester tools? I'm tempted to purchase one as I've got a (non OBDII compliant) 2004 XL-7 and a 2011 Kizashi.

that tool is the bomb , it will even do the regenerative burn on the turbo diesels

Thanks for the link. That tool is only for the engine/ trans - judging by this page http://www.rhinopower.org/Rhinoview/Rhinoview.html ? I was looking at the SDT (in particular) due to it's ability to monitor / set up all the vehicle's systems (eg. engine, transmission, ABS, traction control, climate control, security etc.)

I ended up deciding on this one http://www.x431store.com/wholesale/x431 ... droid.html which apparently does all the vehicle's systems. That was after some feedback via PM's from someone who has both the SDT and X431.

(I'm just cursing the Chinese new year, as the shop is closed until Feb 7th. :( )

Can the x431 definitely do security? I was under the impression that Suzuki security was encrypted.

Are there cheaper software options, or only the $699 package and the $799 package?

I don't think it will be able to do keys- if that's what you're looking for?

You can buy brand specific software for US$66 (eg. $66 for all Suzuki models... from my understanding). It's only if you desire to use it on any vehicle that the price blows out.

To do keys and immo functions with the SDT or Tech2 you need a password, those last 24hours and are only available to Suzuki main dealers. You can do keys with one of my interfaces but it has to be done manually and only vehicles with the immo on pin 9 are supported.

Rhinoman, is it possible to remove the immobiliser function altogether with your interface if the immobilizer is on pin 9?

so this X431 thing can do the CANBUS talking and reprogram things like a new ABS module and so on for less than $200?

No the only way to do that is to modify the programming in the ECU. I have done that on my 2000 model 8V Vitara but only to see if it was possible. A lot of Suzuki models don't have reprogrammable ECUs, on those that do its a pain to trawl through the code when the immo is quite a useful thing to have in the UK.

There are devices that can do that on the later CANBUS models. They actually copy the code from your key and store it (to enable functions like a remote starter to function.)

I think for what I want it might be easier to just find an earlier ecu without an immobiliser.
