Wiper problem

Hi All,
just bought a 1990 model zook. Will be going for a road worth in the next week or so and need to sort out a problem with the wipers.

When I turn the wipers on they work fine at all different speeds, but will not turn off until you turn them to the off position and turn the key off as well.

Any ideas?

sounds like the self park bit in the control box thingy is stuffed

I started out with the same problem. Then it would also trigger the windscreen washer pump off the indicator relay thingy (on-off-on-off). Now its pregressed to any time I indicate left the wipers come on and the pump runs off the flasher unit. I think its the internals of the column control unit breaking down. My suggestion would be to nab a new one from the wreckers.

Hey guys!

Thanks for the thoughts. Had a play with it today and the previous owner had disconnected the pump for the squirters which was causing the wipers not to turn off. The pump had been disconnected due to the valve in the line between squirters and pump was blocked. But all fixed now so thanks again for all your ideas.

Ok. Now I'm confused. Why would the windscreen washer pump affect the wipers switching on or off?? Unless the wiper motor somehow earths through the washer pump (but I doubt it)

wiper motor earths straight into the windscreen sorround.

well as strange as it sounds thats exactly what happened! Would be really interested to know if it is just my car. To test just pull the wire off the squirter pump and then try turning your wipers on and off. Oh well i'm happy mine is working fine.

I would say a fault somewhere is making it earth through the washer power line into the pump

OK, how about this one?

My wipers work fine, except for Int. WOuld that indicate a dodgy switch, motor or anything else?

what does it do on int?? If it does'nt work at all, I'd suspect the switch
