I have bought some parts from turkey and was just told that when it arrives I will have to clear it through customs and was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with this, it cost me nearly $2000 including shipping. Any tips and instructions on how to do this would be helpfull

Well, you will get hit with a bill for duties for it being over $1000 for starters.

last time i had to paycustoms, it was for a shipment of about 2300 and i got slugged $400+ for fees.

ok, thank guys and I was expecting the import tax just would be nice to know at what rate and if the tax is also no the shipping/ transport cost. Is there any paperwork to sort out as I am picking it up from the airport.

import duty is charged on the cost of the items + the shipping cost.

then GST 10% is charged on the cost of the items, + the shipping + the import duty.

It also depends what countries, We don't have agreements with some of them.

Thanks guys, its all sorted I had to pay $318 in fees which is not as bad as I thought.
On a really positive note I was just told it is going to be delivered to my door and I only paid for shipment to the airport/depot
