Hi May have damaged my engine head and maybe camshaft as well. So now I'm considering putting in a G16B engine. But now I discovered a couple of obstacles. The Softtop Jimny I have is with a 2 pickup lug camshaft, and the G16B engine from a Baleno has 11 lugs, right? From what I can read, even I my 2 lug camshaft is not damaged and I put it in the G16B head, it won't ever run at 100% like the 11 lug baleno camshaft. So I was thinking, would it be possible to change the ECU to a hardtop jimny which has an 11 lug camshaft, so I'll be able to use the G16B camshaft? Thanks, Tom |

Does your Jimny have a G13 or M13 engine? I can't remember when they changed over, some one else on here will know, and not sure about the soft-top variation either. I understood (at least for hard tops), if it was a G13 engine you should be able to fit a G16B, but if its an M13 then you have to fit an M16 I think in your year or M18 if it's VVT if you want to run off the factory fitted ECU. So I think you would need an ECU from a G13 engined Jimny, there are others who can give more details. |
