Has anyone found an insurance company that will comprehensively insure their vehicle when it has a set of extractors fitted to it?
My Vitara is stock standard apart from the extractors.
Do you reckon I can insure it? Nope!!!

Any suggestions will be appreciated (but I don't want to pay a gazillion dollars for it)

"Extractors" is a stupid term anyway. Don't even mention it or at least just call them a "replacement exhaust manifold" or some such. No assessor will ever pull you up on it and if they do tell them the custom manifold cracked and that was the off-the-shelf option the exhaust shop gave you.

I hate the word "extractors"; they don't extract a damn thing.

FYI my GV technically has "extractors" and I'll say two things about them:

1. They don't do a damn thing for performance in real life.
2. My insurance company couldn't care less (currently going through a claim).

Just Car Insurance. http://www.justcarinsurance.com.au

Was about ⅓ of the price of Lumley Special Vehicles for my Suzuki Cappuccino ($800 bucks is a big difference!).

Just tell the insurance mob that they can deduct the cost of the headers, if the car is ever written off.

Do they require a permit to install? If yes, then you may HAVE to tell them.

Otherwise, as said above, don't tell em.

I am insured with Shannon's for both my 4x4's and the sierra is listed as aftermarket exhaust including extractors with no problems at all. Mine are both for agreed value and I have never had a problem even with my modified 80 series, cheers Pete

I am also covered with Shannons and the only thing they said was "is it worth over $5,000?". That is their lowest comprehensive amount they will cover for.

They also cover me on another car with over $7,000 of performance modifications.

I am with RACQ. Got insurance no problem and no issues when it came to collecting.
