Post subject:  diff oils

i have a detroit locker in the back of my sierra and as im sure your aware it is quiet loud and clunky even just normal driving. i am wondering is there a specific oil or additive i cqan put in it to quieten it up a bit. i was thinking maybe thicker oil or is there a product for this purpose?
also my gearbox is getting a bit clunky especially second gear sinchro and was wondering is there a similar product or sollution for this??

you are using a LSD oil the diff? This is what diff lapping recommond ( one of brisbanes best diff repairers)

Its because of the extra pressure put on the diff by the locker.. helps keep the oil between the teeth and not let it get crushed.

gearbox I use VMX 80 by castrol. Helps with cold shift and seems nicer through the gears.

50/50 the heaviest diff oil you can get (90/140 I think) and morey's
I and a couple of mates use it in our lockrights and tranfers nice and quiet and supposedly handle huge shock loads.
its a shit to drain unless you warm the diffs up first with a drive.

i went and bought some of that moreys oil stabilizer and hopefully put it in this arvo. apparently its 4 times thicker than honey

thats just the weather report they change it twice a year.
it goes from being hot and humid with an afternoon storm to clear and sunny.
change over is about April and September. :lol:

i was recomened to run LSD oil too. so i run nulon 85-90wt lsd oil
