I am purchasing a Vitara on friday, and need to trailer it home, but I need to know how WIDE a vitara is from the outer tyre wall to outer tyre wall. any help much appreciated, the tyres appear to be slightly larger than standard, but not terribly big. if anyone can give me a reasonably acurate measurement to work with that'd be sweet!!! Im working with tight tolerances here as my car trailer is only 1685mm wide. thanks |

lol, run up... I dont want to damage it on the trip home having just bought it! That helps a bit matty thanks, would it be safe to assume that if it had say a 225 tyre that it would be significantly narrower??? |

if there on a standard rim then yeh it will be a fair bit narrower. it would likely sit inside the guards |

there not the standard steel wheel thats factory fitted, they look like an allow wheel with slightly bigger tyre on it, as though its been fitted at a dealer as an upgrade pack. how wide are the guards just out of curiosity??? |

just search Redbook for you model and check the vehicle width. The tyres shouldnt be wider than the car as then it will be unroadworthy. best to let us know what model |

Sorry Guys, I did try redbook, and I have googled also, but all I can find is a track Width, not an overall body width, even so, im not worried about the body width, just the outside tyre width as the trailer has low sides. here is a pic of her.

front track (mm): 1,394, rear track (mm): 1,400 those rims look like they have a positive offset so they wont add much to the track. |

Don't go for white ones then, they are more susceptible to rust |
